Terms of use
Plain terms for a small app. By creating an account you agree to these.
What Bethany is
A personal daily reflection journal, operated by DevNasCode. It is provided as-is, for your own use. It is not a medical, psychological, financial or professional service, and nothing in it is advice.
Your account
You are responsible for keeping your password to yourself and for what happens under your account. Use a real email address you can access — it is the only way to recover an account. One account per person. You must be at least 13 years old.
How the record works
This is the part worth reading, because it differs from most apps.
- A goal's wording is fixed once written. It can be removed within five minutes; after that it stays.
- Sealing a day closes it permanently. Sealed writing cannot be edited by you, by us, or by support request. There is no undo.
- Days seal on their own after roughly 48 hours if you do not seal them yourself.
These rules exist so the record stays honest. They apply to everyone, including us.
Acceptable use
Do not use Bethany to break the law, to store or distribute unlawful material, to attack or overload the service, to attempt access to anyone else's account, or to resell access. We may suspend or remove an account that does.
Your content
What you write stays yours. We claim no ownership and no licence to use it beyond what is technically required to run the service — storing it, backing it up, and showing it back to you. We do not read it, publish it, or train anything on it.
Availability
Bethany runs on shared hosting and is maintained by one person. There is no uptime guarantee. Maintenance, outages and data loss are all possible. Backups are taken, but you should not treat this as the only copy of anything you cannot afford to lose.
Features may change or be removed. If the service is ever discontinued, reasonable notice will be given so you can retrieve your writing.
Ending it
You can delete your account at any time, which permanently removes everything in it. We may close an account that breaches these terms, or that has been inactive for a very long time, with notice to the address on the account where possible.
No warranty, and limits
The service is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. To the extent permitted by law, DevNasCode is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost data or lost profits, arising from your use of Bethany. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
